Key Characteristics
Appearance: This is a compact, star-shaped rosette that typically stays under 1 foot tall and wide.
Coloration: It features deep green, lance-shaped leaves with vibrant red or coral-pink trim and raised, tooth-like red bumps (tubercles) on the surface.
Sun Stress: The colors become much more intense—turning a fiery red—when the plant is "happily stressed" by bright sunlight.
Flowers: It produces tall stalks of reddish-pink to orange tubular flowers, usually in the fall or winter.
